Gungrave GORE Drops a First Gameplay Trailer with Character Designs from Ikumi Nakamura

Back at E3, Koch Media'due south new Prime Matter label announced the PS2-era action serial Gungrave would be making a surprise render. The offset teaser trailer for Gungrave GORE delivered the blood and attitude, merely didn't offer any real gameplay – thankfully, that's at present inverse. Prime Matter has dropped a beginning gameplay trailer Gungrave GORE, which is every chip equally fast, frantic, and over-the-meridian every bit you might hope. Cheque it out for yourself, below.

Information technology's as well been revealed that Gungrave GORE will feature character designs from Ikumi Nakamura, who almost recently acted as artistic managing director for Ghostwire: Tokyo (and became a bit of a meme following her enthusiastic appearance at E3 2019). Nakamura left Ghostwire: Tokyo partway through production and started her own independent studio, and it seems Gungrave GORE is her showtime major post-Ghostwire project. Nakamura had the post-obit to say almost the new venture in a PlayStation Blog interview…

I used to play the PlayStation 2 version of Gungrave. Since I was a fan of Naito-sensei's Trigun, I naturally thought "I will purchase Gungrave". When Iggymob contacted me, I was happy to hear that it was an offer to work on a piece that I had once purchased. It was an honor to work with Naito-sensei indirectly. They told me that they knew how they would like to arroyo the visual aspect, merely the core visual concept and its impact was non quite in that location.

The fact that I could refine the visual concept was the nigh interesting role when working on Gungrave G.O.R.Eastward. In terms of the actual work process, I had to recollect of how to transform and bring Naito-sensei'due south characters to life. This was both an appealing and challenging function of the project.  Maintaining the main worldview of GORE and adding the "Ikumi-nized" manner was the nigh challenging of all. I used to think "Wow, what am I going to do?" because of the pressure that I felt, merely still moved on with the visualization.

Speaking of things being Ikumi-nized, I'd say this new grapheme from the trailer bears a bit of a resemblance, but maybe information technology'south just me.

Gungrave GORE is coming to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series 10/South, PS4, and PS5 sometime in 2022.
